[Review] Queen’s Gate Alice & Iroha books

Another set of pictures that I took a month ago but never got around to putting them up till now. This isn’t as much a review as it is just a photolog/photo sample of what’s inside these Queen’s Blade/Gate books. “Gate Opener Alice” and “She who repays a debt Iroha” are the only two Queen’s Gate books that I have, as I wasn’t really that interested in Nijihara Ink. These two books are illustrated by two of my favorite artists, Alice by Niθ and Iroha by Iidzuki Tasuku.

 

 

 

[Otaku] Queen’s Blade wallpaper feat. Arein & Aldora

Hobby Japan, in gearing up for the June 20th release of Queen’s Blade’s latest game book additions of Arein and Aldora, have released a wallpaper featuring the two characters on their hobby news blog, Hobby-Channel. [Figures & Books] Yamashita Shunya banzai!

Yaaay a bit of good news for the great japanese sci-fi/fantasy artist Yamashita Shunya. Later in the year, there will be released a couple of new figures designed by the man, as well as his second artbook collection entitled “Wild Flower.”

 

 

 

 

 

[Ero] New Queen’s Blade characters added

Well as I always say, any Queen’s Blade/Gate news is always good news. The Queen’s Blade website recently updated their page to reflect the newest additions to the QB lineup. Their announcements were covered in the January and March issues of japanese hobby magazine Hobby Japan, and now they’ve officially made their way into the roster, complete with background story, profile, and of course the all important 3 sizes. Their books are scheduled to go on sale on 6/20.

 

 

 

[Otaku] New releases, preorders, and previews

A number of things dropped in the past couple days that I’m looking forward to. First off Akibablog reminded me that the new book in the Queen’s Gate series has been released. Akiba Hobby has posted a sample review of Kotobukiya’s Sennin Narika. From Heisei Democracy and Amiami.com comes a listing showing that GoodSmile Company’s Hayase Mitsuki in swimsuit is available for preorder now. And lastly, a one shot of an interesting looking Kanu Unchou figure (in Three Kingdom’s era armor), which should be hitting later in the year.

 

 

[Figures] New Queen’s Blade stuff

I dunno about you but I always love Queen’s Blade news. The latest news comes courtesy of Shingo at HeiseiDemocracy, who found an early preview of the May issue of japanese hobby magazine Hobby Japan over on japanese image board 2chan. The preview covers PVC figures of Queen’s Gate’s Gate Opener Alice (produced by Alpha x Omega, a joint effort between Megahouse and Alter), Queen’s Blade’s Assassin of a Thousand Faces Melona (Megahouse), a resin kit of QB’s Warrior Miko Tomoe (Griffon’s R-Line), and the revelation of a new QB character to debut alongside Combat Instructor Arein in June.

 

 

[books] New Queen’s Gate character Iroha (yes from Samurai Spirits/Showdown!)

Heisei Democracy has picked up on a listing on japanese online bookstore MangaOh Club for a new Queen’s Gate character: Samurai Spirits’ own Iroha, illustrated by a great artist Iidzuki Tasuku (aka TentenHuuhuu). Shingo at HD commented that this’ll mark the first actual fighting game character to hit the Queen’s series. Though the Queen’s Gate spin off is still somewhat of a fledgling series, I wonder if this will probably become a regular occurrence? QG does pull characters from an alternate universe separate from the Queen’s Blade series (ie characters that we’re already familiar with…though i don’t know where Gate Opener Alice comes from), so this may be possible. I’m sure a lot of people would love to see maybe Shana or one of the Dead or Alive girls (perhaps Kasumi or Ayane? if we’re to keep with the characters with weapons theme, though there are others) make it to the series. Anyway the release seems to be set for an April 18th street date, priced I think the same as every other Queen’s series book out there. Cool stuff.

extra thoughts: I would love to see Balsa from the anime Seirei no Moribito make it here! She is an awesome character and fighter, though I doubt she’ll make an appearance cuz she’d probably whoop on you so bad for trying to cast off her clothes…

[ero] Queen’s Blade Steel Princess Ymir gamebook finally coming

After a year or more of some sort of delays (assuming), the Steel Princess Ymir finally gets her own game book coming Feb. 15, one day after Valentine’s Day in Japan for 1,500 Yen. There will also be a version of the book with an alternate dark clothing color scheme cover that will be sold online only by Post Channel Hobby Shop. (limited to 200 copies) I don’t imagine many people would be able to get one but just thought some people might have wanted to know lol.
